Collect Related Words
Delve deeper into your naming themes to explore related words. Your related words are the building blocks to constructing your new name.
When you enter your first theme into Nameloader, notice the list of related words that automatically generate in the gray-colored area. Scan the list for words you feel will make for a winning name.
Tip!
The trick is to collect words you feel will add meaning to your brand. Get a better sense of a word’s name potential by saying each word aloud. Seems like a strange idea, but it works. Saying a word aloud treats the word as though it were an actual name, mentioned in conversation. As you say a word, what kind of images or feelings comes to mind? Can you associate these images or feelings to what you’re naming? Words with name potential should immediately elicit strong, desirable mental images or emotions that paint a more descriptive picture of your big idea.
For every word you like, hit the (+) button. This adds the word to your Quick List. The Quick List is a space to keep track of words you think have strong name potential.
Once you’ve scanned the list of related words, enter your next theme into the box. Continue to scan and collect words with strong name potential for each of your themes.
Let’s keep with our widget example. On our Quick List, we collected about five related words for each theme. We felt each word could be a winning name - or even part of a winning name - for a widget. To test this, we added the name “Widget” to the end of every word we collected:
SECURE: Keystone Widgets, Stone Widgets, Bulldog Widgets, Bolt Widgets
SPEED: Whippet Widgets, Zoom Widgets, Zip Widgets
SIMPLE: Intrinsic Widgets, Quintessence Widgets, Core Widgets
INDESTRUCTIBLE: Eternal Widgets, Everlast Widgets
