Create Name Bits

The Mix Names Snazzy Bit Box feature. We kinda like it.
This step lets you generate inventive names you’d otherwise not think of yourself, such as pinkdaffodil or urbanpanda. It’s especially helpful when you find the part of a name you like, and want to experiment mixing it with other name parts to generate creatively varied names.

Notice the two Bit Boxes in the yellow-colored area on this tab: a front bit box, and a back bit box. The front bit box lets you enter name bits (more on that below) you’d like to see at the beginning of an invented name. The back bit box lets you enter name bits you’d like to see - wait for it - at the end of an invented name.

Name bits: good things come in small packages.
Name bits are essentially names broken up into its syllable parts. Deconstructing names into bits is ideal for generating unique names that would otherwise be too difficult to create by hand.

Stuck for name bit ideas? Click on the Get Ideas button for a list of ideas (organized by category). Click on the bits that most appeal to you.

Notice the stars category on the Get Ideas list. The bits here are actually taken from names on your Quick List. Click on the bits you especially like for mixing.

Be selective when entering name bits into the boxes. Enter only the bits you feel have best naming traction to return the most unique and evocative mixed names. Overloading the Bit Boxes with too many bits will generate an overwhelming number of mixed names that will take a great deal of time to sort.

After you’ve entered a series of name bits into the Bit Boxes, notice that the bits automatically mix together to create new names in gray-colored area below. Spend a few moments carefully looking over the list of mixed names. Scan for mixed names you find appealing, and add them to your Quick List.

For our Widget company naming example we mixed the following names to add on our Quick List:

• Elekin
• Quintkin
• Corestone
• Zipstone
• Zipbit
• Zipkey
